This Kitchen was renovated in the late 70’s by the previous owners. Those 70’s updates included walling over windows and closing off the back door with an interior vestibule. See the before pictures, below. During demolition, we found framing for windows in just about the exact location that we proposed ‘new’ ones...
Beginning with the entry into the kitchen space from both the back door and the entry off the foyer, we worked with the client to enhance the existing kitchen without adding to the foundation footprint.
Custom Kitchen cabinets maximized the area over the stairs from the outside to the basement. A new bump out with windows and built in bench create a cozy setting in the breakfast nook.
Installing seven new energy efficient windows on the three exterior sides of this kitchen allows natural light to flood the space. The owners rarely have to turn on the lights.
Being “Green” has become very important to many of our clients. The Profeta family has been helping to lead the charge in Maplewood. We are always thrilled when our client’s passion for the environment aligns with our own. We were able to assist them in meeting their green goals and budget by specifying the use of FSC-certified wood for the kitchen cabinets, wood floors, and the energy efficient windows. Energy star appliances and lighting fixtures as well as low VOC finishes and formaldehyde free insulation were all specified for this project.
